I never thought I would say this before, but the food we have at the mission is slightly better than our old food. There are new plants we eat called wheat and corn. We use the wheat to make a new food called bread. We also eat new animals, such as cows, goats, and sheep. Usually, we roast them, but occasionally, we, the Gabrielino Indians eat them raw because we believe it makes us strong.
